YSPP has developed two health curricula designed to be taught by classroom teachers and appropriate for students at the middle and high school levels. H.E.L.P. (Helping Every Living Person) is designed for 9th and 10th graders and LOOK LISTEN LINK targets 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
Both have been evaluated in numerous schools and with hundreds of students in WA State. Both curricula have also earned listing on the Best Practices Registry of the national Suicide Prevention Resource Center.
Each curriculum has four lessons, a DVD, interactive exercises and role-play practice opportunities.
Take a closer look at each and read what students and health teachers are saying about them.
Look who's teaching Suicide Prevention
Central Valley School District (Spokane County) and Peninsula School District (Pierce County) have recently purchased multiple copies of our middle and high school curricula for suicide prevention. Shortly we will receive an order from Issaquah School District as they have just completed an extensive review process and have approved the curricula as supplemental lessons for their health classes. These districts join others, including Seattle and Kent in approving the YSPP lessons.
There are over 208 teachers across the state that have been trained to deliver H.E.L.P. in their high school health classes. Already this school year nearly 60 health teachers have reported that they had taught the lessons and reached over 3,600 students. We have trained 53 middle school health teachers to facilitate LOOK LISTEN LINK and in this school year, we know of 720 students who have received the lessons.
