Youth Suicide Prevention Program Community Programs

Print Page

wa state mapOur mission is to reduce youth suicide attempts and deaths in Washington State.

These programs help to ensure that kids and adults in our local communities know what to look for, what to say and what to do to prevent a youth suicide.

From Classroom to Community: A Team Approach to Youth Suicide Prevention

In Cowlitz County, the Lower Yakima Valley, and South Pierce County. local suicide attempt rates for youth and young adults are higher than the federal average. We focus our efforts in those areas to train community mental health and substance abuse providers, as well as school personnel, to assess, manage and refer treatment to youth at risk for suicide.

Dedicated to Preventing Suicide Among Our Youth

Our field coordinators are the hands, heart and pulse of youth suicide prevention in each location where they serve, from King County to Spokane, Tri-cities, Yakima/South Central and Vancouver regions.

Peer-to-Peer Activities in Schools

In our school-based youth suicide prevention activities, students in districts around the state organize and create campaigns to raise awareness in their school. Two awards are given each year for the best campaigns. Contact your local Field Coordinator for more information.
